2024 Olympics in Paris: the first gender-equal games in history
Over the centuries, the Olympic Games have evolved significantly and marked many historical milestones. From Ancient Greece to Michael Phelps (who has the most Olympic victories), the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, are scheduled to make history as the first Olympic Games with equal participation of men and women.

Women first entered sports competitions around 1900 in Paris. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach emphasized the goal of the organization in a recent statement: «Our commitment to promoting gender equality does not end in Paris… We will continue to pave the way for women and work with our stakeholders, encouraging them to take the necessary steps to promote gender equality in their areas of responsibility. The IOC will continue to move forward and use the power of sport to create a more equal and inclusive society».

Now, competitions will be equal, with the participation of male and female athletes in their respective sports. Throughout Olympic history, women have been able to dominate and succeed in various events, producing legendary athletes such as Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Nadia Comaneci, Lindsey Vonn, and others.

The Olympic Games have allowed women to make a significant contribution to history. Thomas Bach recognized this great achievement, stating that it is «one of the most important moments in the history of women in the Olympic Games and in sports in general».

ESPNW took note of this. In a post published on Instagram ESPNW, it is noted: «To put this into perspective, the first modern Olympic Games (Athens 1896) did not have female athletes».

Fans expressed their joy and support online in anticipation of the upcoming Olympic Games, starting this Friday, July 26. One user shared: «Bro, I can’t name a single male athlete, other than the basketball team, but I can name female athletes in various sports. This is a sign that women’s sports are really developing».

Another person added: «Because when you give women the opportunity, they take it and succeed. We don’t need to say it twice».

Even the US lacrosse team joined in the chorus, commenting: «THIS»
