A$AP Rocky was in court, with Rihanna by his side, to fight charges of alleged assault with a semi-automatic weapon. Although he has claimed his innocence, if found guilty, he could face many years in prison. Learn more about his case below.
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with two felony assaults with a semi-automatic weapon. He got into a fight in California in 2021 with his former colleague, A$AP Relli, whose real name is Terell Efron, according to CourtTV. A$AP Relli shared in court: «[A$AP Rocky] turned around, and then 'BAM!' It was like a movie. He kind of pointed down and shot first. I felt my hand hot. I got hit. Or grazed. I didn’t have a hole or anything like that», - according to CourtTV. A$AP Rocky’s lawyer claimed that his client did not use a real weapon, and that the shots were actually blanks from a starter pistol that the rapper carries as a prop. Seven police officers inspected the scene and found no evidence. However, A$AP Relli brought them two casings that he allegedly found at the same location.
In 2022, A$AP Rocky was arrested, and if found guilty of the two felony assaults, he could face up to 24 years in prison. A$AP Rocky has declared his innocence. He had the opportunity to accept a plea deal for 180 days in exchange for a guilty plea, but he declined the offer.
