New York Mayor Eric Adams has hired prominent Quinn Emanuel partner Alex Spiro as he faces federal charges of bribery, fraud, and campaign violations that were revealed on Thursday.
Just hours before the full charges against Adams were revealed, law enforcement officials conducted a search at his residence, Gracie Mansion. According to information from various sources, agents seized the mayor’s phone, which Spiro deemed unnecessary.
«They sent a dozen agents to take the phone, even though we would have gladly handed it over», - said the 41-year-old lawyer in a statement in the morning. «Federal agents showed up this morning at Gracie Mansion in an attempt to stage a spectacle (again) and take [Adams' phone] (again). He was not arrested, and he looks forward to his day in court».
Spiro is one of the most well-known lawyers in the country, known for representing clients such as Elon Musk during his $ 44 billion Twitter acquisition, now known as X. He has also defended celebrities including Alec Baldwin, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jay-Z.
