The actors of the series «Little Deer» decided to «not watch» the supposed real interview of Martha Scott Fiona Harvey with Piers Morgan, the star of the series Nava Mau revealed during a new interview. Attending the Gotham TV Awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 4, the Netflix actress opened up about the show while speaking with Entertainment Tonight.
«I am so grateful for the conversations that [the series] has started», - Nava told the publication. «People are discussing topics that, you know, they are quite complex topics. We are talking about violence, we are talking about trauma, we are talking about shame, and it’s wonderful to see how many people are engaging in this conversation in their own language, with their own people».
«Little Deer» follows the personal story of creator and main character Richard Gadd, which he brought to the small screen. Throughout the show, Richard’s character, Donnie Dunn, is pursued and harassed by a woman named Martha Scott. In real life, Richard received 41,071 emails, 350 hours of voicemails, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages, and 106 pages of letters from a woman who inspired the character of Martha.
The Netflix series quickly became a hit on the streaming platform because it resonates with various audiences.
Earlier this month, Fiona sat down with Piers on May 9 and said that the portrayal of Richard was «just not accurate». Additionally, Fiona claimed to have received death threats because of the series.
«I find it quite indecent. I find it horrible, misogynistic», - Fiona told Piers. «People are calling me. It was absolutely horrible. I wouldn’t pay attention to something like that, and it’s not my kind of drama».
Fiona later revealed that she plans to sue the creators of «Little Deer».
As for Richard, the multifaceted creator previously shared his opinion that the woman who pursued him is a «victim» during an interview with The Independent in 2019.
«I cannot emphasize enough how much of a victim she is in all of this», - the writer and actor said at the time. «When we think of stalkers, we always think of movies like 'Misery' and 'Fatal Attraction,' where the stalker is a monstrous figure in the night down a narrow alley. But usually it’s a previous relationship or someone you know or a colleague. Stalking and harassment are forms of mental illness. It would be wrong to portray her as a monster because she is sick, and the system did not help her».
Richard also noted that he «definitely escalated the situation before realizing how dangerous it was», - calling himself a «fool» for it
