The third season of the series «Medved» is attracting attention ahead of its return this week (June 26), but the actors playing Sidney and Carmi, Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White, are not interested in entertaining fans who want to see romantic relationships between the characters.
The comedy-drama series, set in Chicago, follows Carmen «Carmi» Berzatto, a young chef who returns home to take over the family diner after the tragic death of her brother, combining intense kitchen drama with a sincere exploration of family, grief, and ambitions.
Edebiri, 28, and White, 33, deny the possibility of romantic interest between the characters in the third season and in the foreseeable future. It seems they have reached a critical point, forcing them to pay attention to the lives that fans have started living, creating the Sidney and Carmi couple. White expressed his surprise in an interview for Eater, promoting the third season of «Medved», - stating: «It's madness. It’s something that happens completely independently of the show we’re making».
«Romantic relationships between Carmi and Sidney were not something we discussed. It seems like something is happening outside of the show we are filming. Maybe we just program ourselves from television and movies we’ve been watching for so long. If there’s a guy and a girl in the story, they will definitely meet».
Instead, White hints that in the new season, the relationship between Sidney and Carmi may become more complicated, but without romance. With the characters becoming official business partners in the restaurant, White tries to explain that Carmi is «not the best communicator» and «you will see… how this affects Carmen and Sid’s relationship». Edebiri supports his opinion, saying: «Carmi is someone she, I think, really respected, but now she’s in the thick of business relationships», - Edebiri said, «and it’s much more chaotic than she could have imagined before they really started working together».
Despite denying romantic involvement in their roles, the actors maintain a close friendship off-screen, along with the entire cast. This was especially noticeable during their victory at the awards ceremony, where they demonstrated close relationships on stage, including a heartfelt moment between Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Matty Matheson
