Abby Jacobsen and Jodi Balfour officially tied the knot! The actress from the series «Broad City», - Abby, 40, and «Ted Lasso» alum Jodi, 37, revealed that they got married during a new interview for Cultured magazine, published on Wednesday, June 5.
«After so much distance, we wanted the wedding to be like that first sweaty shoulder moment — complete unity», - Jodi said about their intimate wedding ceremony. «I think we achieved that».
Although rain forced them to move the wedding indoors, Jodi noted, «It was so fateful because the ceremony wasn’t what we expected, but it was exactly what we hoped for. People were tightly gathered together. When we looked out at the audience, our friends were sitting on stools, peeking through plants, and perched on bottle tops. I’ve never been to a wedding like that».
Jodi continued by posting a carousel of photos from their wedding on Instagram, which took place at Public Records in New York.
«We got married!» she captioned the post.
During the magazine interview, Jodi further explained that they met virtually in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. That year, the «For All Mankind» star lost her brother and went through a breakup.
«It was a pivotal year for me in many ways», - Jodi said, noting that meeting Abby «felt like the culmination of a long-awaited step in my own development».
After they met in person at Abby’s home in Los Angeles, Jodi shared that she «made» her wife «step outside into the yard so I could have a moment to say to myself, 'Oh my god, I’m in love.'»
«I had a very complicated theory about my relationship with romance», - Jodi admitted. «Then I saw Abby standing right at her entrance and thought, 'Oh, I love this person. Cool.'»
Recalling their engagement, Jodi noted that she was filming in London, but Abby flew in to meet her with a toy ring in hand.
«We both cried», - Jodi recounted, adding that she told the comedian, «'You little bastard, I have a ring for you too.'»
