Alex Warren spoke about grief and plans to become a father to a girl
Last week, Grammy-nominated singer Alex Warren performed his hits «Ordinary» and «Fever Dream» for his devoted fans at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles. In an interview with Derek Hough for «Extra», - Alex spoke about his journey to a music career, his second studio album «WILDCHILD», - and his experiences of losing his parents.

Warren faced significant challenges before his career began to take off, including homelessness and the death of his parents. He shared that he and his wife often drive past the place where they were homeless, which brings back special memories for them. Alex noted that every day he feels like he is living the life of another person.

Reflecting on his younger self, Warren admitted that he was consumed by the feeling that everyone was against him as a child, which led to panic attacks. He emphasized that looking back, he realizes how important it was to have time alone with himself.

Currently, Alex is on his world tour «Finding (More) Family on the Road», - where, despite performing in large venues, he creates an intimate atmosphere for the audience. He mentioned that many fans bring the ashes of their loved ones or pets, allowing them to share memories of those they have lost.

Warren lost his father, James Hughes, to kidney cancer at the age of 9, and in 2021, his mother passed away from liver and kidney failure after a long battle with alcoholism. These losses inspired him to create many songs, including «Eternity» and «Heaven with You». Alex also included his father’s voice in the song «I Miss You More», - which evokes strong emotions in him.

He shared that he would love for his father and John Mayer to play together on a song. Warren sent a message to Mayer asking him to record a guitar solo, and he agreed. Alex expressed hope that this song will live longer than he does.

Alex also shared that his new album is inspired by the nickname his father gave him—"wild child." He recalled how he tried to impress his father as a child and how that influenced his creativity.

Speaking about his parents, Warren admitted that he often looks for them in the crowd during concerts and continues to communicate with them in his daily life. He believes that grief is an important part of love and life.

In conclusion, Alex talked about his future plans, including his desire to become a father and raise children the way he would have liked. He is also preparing to host the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in November, which excites him greatly.
