The series «Grey's Anatomy» began its 23rd season with an unexpected twist — in the episode that aired on October 15, news was revealed about one character’s pregnancy and another’s potential departure.
Simone, played by Alexis Floyd, was shocked after a positive pregnancy test. She is currently dating Wes (Trevor Jackson), but also had a fling with Lucas (Niko Terho), leaving uncertainty regarding paternity.
Meanwhile, Jo (Camilla Luddington) was struggling at work and ultimately informed Link (Chris Carmack) that she was leaving. Link was taken aback, but he also had his own secret — he was hiding pills found in their home.
Jo’s departure from the hospital raises questions about her future, but «Grey's Anatomy» is known for its cast changes and plot twists. Luddington previously mentioned that she is trying to find ways for her character to avoid being at risk of being written off, especially after she recently became a mother of twins.
Showrunner Meg Marinis hinted that not all characters will be safe, as the cast has been reduced in the last two seasons due to budget constraints in the industry. She noted that character departures should evoke emotions from viewers, making the storyline more engaging.
«Grey's Anatomy» airs on ABC on Thursdays at 10 PM Eastern Time, and is available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
