Alexia Umansky thanks fans after sharing story of abuse

Alexia Umansky shared her experience of surviving sexual violence in the fifth season of the show «Stars on Mars». She expressed gratitude to fans for their support after recounting her story on air on October 8.
In her Instagram post on October 9, Alexia wrote: «I want to thank each of you who reached out to me after hearing part of my story on 'Stars on Mars' this week. The love and support have been amazing, but in the sweetest way. It means more to me than you know».
During the episode, Alexia told her father, Mauricio Umansky, that she had previously been attacked by a stranger. She noted: «For anyone who sees something of themselves in my story, you are not alone». Alexia added that life is beautiful and that there is so much more to their stories than the things that have happened to them.
Alexia, who auditioned for the show alongside her father, explained that she decided to participate in the project to prove her courage «after what happened» seven years ago. She recalled how during a trip with friends, after drinking, she woke up and realized something had happened. «I felt completely like an object. I had a lot of pain and anger because of it», - she shared.
Alexia, who is now married to Jake Zingerman, initially did not want to tell her parents or sisters about what had happened. She noted that when you share such information with others, it becomes not only your problem but also a concern for those around you. Nevertheless, she emphasized that she was able to heal and has come a long way since then.
After sharing her story, Alexia emotionally turned to her father, who immediately offered her support. The show «Stars on Mars» airs on Fox on Thursdays at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.
