In order to celebrate the release of the Deadpool and Wolverine movie, the Formula 1 team Alpine will be racing in a special livery on their cars at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Instead of the usual design — typically a black car with shades of blue and pink — Pierre Gasly, 28, and Esteban Ocon, 27, will be driving cars adorned in red and black, with yellow claws, as a sign of respect to the two Marvel superheroes depicted in the new film.

Both drivers will also take the opportunity — Ocon will wear a Deadpool-style helmet, and Gasly will have a Wolverine design.

Alpine, with its unique color scheme, is the latest team to strike a deal with the film industry, but their collaboration with Marvel Studios is no coincidence. Ryan Reynolds, who plays the masked character Deadpool, has heavily invested in the team.

Reynolds joined the team in June 2023, when Renault sold 24% of its shares to the American investment group Otro Capital, including RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, the latter led by Reynolds and his co-owner Rob McElhenney.

According to the Formula 1 website, Reynolds «was part of a group of investors who injected 200 million euros into Alpine last year to advance the team’s ambitions in Formula 1».

The 47-year-old actor entered the world of Formula 1, and he was followed by some of the biggest sports stars in the world at Alpine. The group included Michael B. Jordan and outstanding athletes such as boxer Anthony Joshua, Liverpool footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold, golfer Rory McIlroy, NFL star Travis Kelce, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who regularly appears in the Formula 1 paddock as a guest of Alpine.

Alpine is the second team this month to announce a Hollywood collaboration, with RB striking a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to promote the summer blockbuster «Twisters» at the British Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda raced with Twisters branding on their cars and suits at Silverstone, and the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos visited the race as guests.

«We are a team with the youngest and most balanced audience between men and women, and this is the perfect target audience for the film. Daniel and Yuki are popular drivers», - said RB CEO Peter Bayer about the collaboration with Twisters.

«With this deal, everything had to happen very quickly, and it’s great for both the film and the team»
