Anastasia Shubskaya: wife of Alex Ovechkin and mother of two children

National Hockey League captain of the Washington Capitals, Alex Ovechkin is considered one of the greatest players in the history of hockey, but his heart belongs to his wife, Anastasia Shubskaya, also known as Nastya and Nastasia. The couple has been married for many years, but Nastya once again attracted attention at the Capitals' match in April 2025 against the New York Islanders.

Nastasia recalled her husband’s marriage proposal during an interview with The Washington Post in 2020. She shared that Alex proposed when she was in the shower.
«I was in shock, I just… and he didn’t stop, and I was like 'Oh my God,' and I grabbed a towel, opened the door, and he was on his knees with flowers and a ring», - Anastasia told the publication. «At first, when I opened the door, I thought I would kill him. Imagine, you’re taking a shower, and then you have to get out… Oh, God. Why couldn’t you just wait? He said, 'No, no, no. I wanted it right now.'»
Before falling in love with Nastya, Alex was engaged to tennis player Maria Kirilenko, but they called off the wedding in 2014. That same year, Maria reportedly said, «Our relationship is over, but I respect Sasha [Ovechkin] as a person and as an athlete, and sincerely wish him further sporting success».
Nastasia’s mother was the late Russian actress Vera Glagoleva, who passed away in August 2017 from cancer.
Nastasia is the mother of two children named Sergei and Ilya, whom she shares with her husband, Alex.
During a previous interview with The Washington Post, Alex praised fatherhood, saying he «waited for the moment when my child would be with me in the locker room. The culture we have here is something special, and all the guys love kids, and he will have fun too».
