Colleen Hoover continues to gain popularity in Hollywood as a writer of adaptations for films featuring female leads and unexpected endings. Her latest adaptation, «Verity», - starring Anne Hathaway, tells the story of a manipulative writer whose husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), asks another writer, Lowen (Dakota Johnson), to finish her novel. The plot unfolds a love triangle, and it is claimed that the ending is full of unexpected twists that fans of the book are still debating.
With the release of «Verity» in theaters over the weekend, some viewers may want to find other films with similarly thrilling moments. The publication Watch With Us offers three thrillers available for streaming on Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, and Peacock that promise the same excitement as «Verity».
The first film is «The Maid» (2025), starring Sydney Sweeney. Her character, Millie, tries to keep her job as a maid for the Winchester family but faces increasingly erratic behavior from the mistress, Nina (Amanda Seyfried). Throughout the story, Millie begins an affair with Nina’s husband, which could lead to tragic consequences.
The second film is «Mother's Instinct» (2024), in which Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway play neighbors and best friends. After the tragic death of one of their sons, the other begins to get too close to the surviving child, raising suspicions and tension between them.
The third film is «The Hand That Rocks the Cradle» (1992), a classic thriller about a nanny who becomes too close to the family, leading to paranoia in the mother. The film keeps viewers on edge until the very end, leaving questions about the characters' motives.
These films, like «Verity», - offer viewers thrilling and unpredictable plots that may appeal to thriller enthusiasts.
