Anna Delvey, real name Anna Sorokin, is ready to join the lineup of the upcoming season of «Dancing with the Stars», - having all the necessary permissions.
The heroine of the series «Inventing Anna», - who was convicted of theft after allegedly posing as a German heiress and swindling thousands of dollars from New York’s elite to fund her lavish lifestyle, will participate in the 33rd season of the long-running dance competition show on ABC, which kicks off on September 17.
The network announced that Delvey, who will be paired with professional dancer Ezra Sosa, will be joining the cast on September 4 and hinted at the debut of the «infamous fashionista with an ankle bracelet».
Delvey was released from prison in 2021 after serving four years, but has since been under house arrest, fighting her deportation case. Her representative, Yuda Engelmayr, confirmed to the Associated Press that Delvey can «travel within 70 miles of her base and to any of the five boroughs of New York under previous house arrest conditions».
In an interview with E! News, the socialite shared: «I was waiting for permission from ICE to travel outside the state», - but noted that she still has other travel restrictions. With approval from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), she can participate in person as long as the show is being filmed in Los Angeles.
Regarding her dance partner, Sosa said: «I'm obsessed with her». He also noted that he is «excited for America to finally see» Delvey and «who she is», - adding that she has «dance abilities».
