Bald Hadka accused of murdering wife in front of children and friend

In Vermont, a man is accused of murdering his wife in front of their two daughters and a friend during the children’s sleepover. Bal Hadka was arrested on October 10 after police arrived at the family’s apartment in Burlington around 6 a.m. and found his wife, Lila Hadka, unconscious with severe head injuries.
Lila was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she died on October 11. The 44-year-old Bal appeared in court on October 13 and pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. At the time of the incident, their daughters, aged 3 and 10, and a 10-year-old friend who witnessed the attack were in the apartment.
The children told investigators that Bal was using drugs and accused his wife of infidelity before the attack. During the incident, one of the girls began recording audio on her phone. Chittenden County Prosecutor Sarah George noted that the recording is one of the most horrific she has ever heard and added that Lila’s death was shocking.
Bal has a criminal history, including violations of a protective order and driving under the influence. The children also reported to the police that Bal had attempted to kill their mother in the past. When Bal was arrested, he was initially charged with attempted murder, but the charge was upgraded after Lila’s death.
Bal is currently being held at the Northern State Correctional Facility without bail, while his children are with relatives.
