Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are celebrating 34 years of marriage, sharing new photos and videos filled with affection. Michelle posted a video compilation on Instagram, accompanying it with the words: «Loving you gets better every day! Happy anniversary, @BarackObama. Here’s to many more years of joy, laughter, and memories ahead».
In the video, Michelle, who met the former president in 1989 at a law firm in Chicago, showcased new pictures of the couple, including a photo of them holding hands on the beach. Barack also shared a heartfelt message for his wife, writing: «Happy anniversary, @MichelleObama! I’m still the luckiest guy in the world to be with you».
Although the Obamas openly share their love story, Michelle has said it was not love at first sight. She recalled thinking when she first saw Barack, «You're cute, but in my mind, I’m not going to date one of the few Black interns». Ultimately, Barack convinced her to go on a date, and they married in October 1992 at Trinity Church in Chicago. The couple has two daughters: Malia, born in July 1998, and Sasha, who was born in June 2001.
Barack Obama has previously noted that he values his family for being separate from the political hustle of Washington.
