Former President Barack Obama, known for his diverse musical taste that spans neo-soul and classic rock, has released his annual summer playlist.
Continuing a tradition he started in 2015 while still in office, the 63-year-old Obama shared his favorite songs of the year, as well as a list of books he is reading.
Obama acknowledged the diverse nature of his playlist in a post on X, writing: «As summer comes to a close, I wanted to share some songs I’ve been listening to lately — and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!»
Referring to the ongoing «brat summer», - Obama included the turbo-charged song «365» by Charlie XCX on the list, reflecting the musical atmosphere supported by Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic presidential candidate, who highlighted «brat summer» in her online campaign.
He admits that his daughters, Sasha and Malia, help him keep his musical tastes current and diverse. Speaking with Carter Gregory (thecarterb) in a new video, Obama mentioned: «I get recommendations from my daughters — which helps me not get stuck in the 80s».
Obama’s playlist includes a mix of both old and new tracks. Among the artists included in the list are country star Shaboozey («A Bar Song (Tipsy)»), pop sensation Billie Eilish («Chihiro»), and hip-hop singer Tommy Richman («Million Dollar Baby»).
Other tracks include classics ranging from «No Diggity» by Blackstreet and «Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)» by Digable Planets to «Where Did Our Love Go» by Supremes and «(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction» by Rolling Stones
