Ben Affleck spoke about the loss of his parents in two months

Ben Affleck shared his feelings about the loss of both of his parents, who passed away two months apart. In an interview on the podcast of his co-star from the film «Animals», - Kerry Washington, he revealed that his mother, Chris Anne Affleck, died in June at the age of 83 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, while his father, Timothy Affleck, who was 76, passed away in April.

Affleck noted that these losses made him reevaluate his childhood. He recalled finding letters his mother had written to her family while living in California before Ben and his brother Casey were born, after her death. In the letters, Chris was full of life and ambition, dreaming of becoming a social worker or teacher and participating in protests in Mississippi.

Ben admitted that reading these letters was an unexpected experience for him, as he realized that his mother had a full life before he came along. He emphasized that he now understands how much she did for him and Casey, working as a teacher and caring for the family.

Earlier this month, Casey Affleck also spoke about the death of their parents at a press conference for his film «Company» at the Venice Film Festival, dedicating the film to his parents and expressing regret that he didn’t have the chance to show them the movie.
