Ben Affleck talks about the death of his parents and its impact on him

Ben Affleck shared his thoughts on life after the loss of both of his parents, who passed away two months apart. In an interview with GQ published on October 6, the actor revealed that his mother, Chris, died on June 2, while his father, Timothy, had passed away earlier, in early April.

Affleck noted that the death of his parents forced him to reevaluate his life and appreciate his childhood. He emphasized that such events raise questions about one’s own mortality and how he wants to spend the remaining time. «We only get a limited amount of time», - he said.

The actor also discussed how the loss of his parents affected his perception of grief. According to him, «the end of life is not always filled with wisdom and resolution», - and he realized that many things remain unresolved. Ben mentioned that his relationship with his father was «complicated», - and they were not close in the last years of Timothy’s life.

Affleck added that he does not want to outlive his children, as that would be the worst thing for him. He spoke publicly about the death of his parents for the first time during an appearance on the podcast «Streets We Grew Up On» on September 30, noting that this event made him rethink his childhood and the value of a mother’s love.
