Ben Marshall is moving forward in the SNL casting after his friend left the PDD group

Ben Marshall was a third of the popular comedy group Please Don’t Destroy, whose sketches were featured on Saturday Night Live. Before season 51, his friend and PDD member John Higgins left the trio, while Ben was promoted to a cast member on SNL. But there are no hard feelings between the best friends; Ben even acknowledged their friendship in an Instagram post in September 2025.
«I love these guys so much», - Ben began in his emotional caption. «I couldn’t be more grateful for starting this business with my two best friends. Writing for SNL together and creating our own videos for the show was beyond our wildest dreams — and I am so proud of everything we have accomplished».
Acknowledging their «new chapter», - Ben promised that he, John, and Martin Herlihy «are not going to stop working together anytime soon».
«Thank you to everyone who watched our videos, our movie, or saw us on tour. It means a lot», - he continued. «PDD forever».

Unlike his two friends from Please Don’t Destroy, Ben has no ties to a famous actor or writer, and no previous connections to SNL. Born in Georgia, he grew up in Savannah before moving to New York for his comedy career.
Ben studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design, which is part of the Savannah-Chatham public school system. He then attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and was involved in comedy groups Hammerkatz and Astor Place Riots.
In September 2025, SNL confirmed that Ben is part of their season 51 cast. He landed the job during a cast shake-up, which saw Heidi Gardner and others leave the show.
