Bethenny Frankel shared co-parenting advice following a lengthy legal battle with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy. In a video posted on Instagram on October 11, she warned, «Don't try to turn your kids against your ex-partner. No matter how active or problematic your ex is, you will ultimately turn the child against yourself».
Frankel fought for custody of her daughter Bryn for over ten years after their marriage ended. Their engagement and wedding were documented in the spin-off of «The Real Housewives of New York City» titled «Bethenny Ever After», - which aired on Bravo from 2010 to 2012. Bethenny and Jason exchanged vows in New York in March 2010, and two months later, they welcomed their daughter. Their marriage was short-lived: the couple separated in December 2012, and Frankel filed for divorce the following month. The divorce proceedings and custody battle were extremely contentious, and it was not until January 2021 that a judge finalized their divorce.
In the video, Frankel touched on her co-parenting experience with Hoppy, noting that «it's a long road», - and that relationships with children change over time. She emphasized the importance of focusing on the well-being of the children, urging to keep negative emotions to oneself.
Recently, Frankel also provided an update on her relationship with Hoppy nearly six years after the divorce was finalized. In an interview with the podcast «Friends Keep Secrets», - she noted that they are still «not quite» on the best of terms, but «exist on the same ground». She described her split from Hoppy as «traumatic», - but takes pride in her bond with their daughter Bryn, who is now 16 years old.
