Billy Kid and Lady Jane Grey will share the screen! Tom Blight and Emily Bader have been cast in the upcoming adaptation of Emily Henry’s book «People We Meet on Vacation» by Netflix. Tom, 29, will play the role of Alex Nielsen, and Emily, 27, has been chosen for the role of Poppy Wright.
Netflix confirmed the news on Friday, August 2, releasing a video from Instagram with a call from Emily with director Brett Haley, in which he asked her if she wanted to be their Poppy. Soon after, Tom joined the call, and the partners expressed their joy about working together. Emily even appeared on the call and said that fans «will love Poppy and Alex with you in these roles».
The story follows best friends Poppy and Alex, who are complete opposites in character. Poppy is a spontaneous wild child who seeks adventure, while Alex is a more calm bookworm who values routine. The friends meet every summer for a week of travel, until a trip to Croatia changes everything between them. After a two-year communication break, Poppy realizes she misses her friend and reaches out to him to embark on one last trip to Palm Springs. They soon face the question of whether their connection is platonic or romantic.
Emily is best known for her leading role in «My Lady Jane», - where she plays Lady Jane Grey in the Prime Video series. Among her most famous films are «Paranormal Activity: The Next Generation» and «Fresh Kills». As for Tom, he rose to fame with the role of young Coriolanus Snow in «The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes» last year. He also stars in the MGM+ series «Billy Kid» in the title role.
