Billy Ray Cyrus and Fairrouz (real name: Joanna Rozy Hodges) are left with broken hearts because of their divorce. Less than a month after the split, the 62-year-old country music singer filed new court documents on Monday, June 17, accusing his ex-wife, 36, of blocking one of his daughters on his phone. Billy Ray shares children Miley, Noah, Brandi, Trace, and Braison Cyrus with his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus.
According to court documents, Billy Ray «discovered that [Fairrouz] was conducting a campaign to isolate the plaintiff from his family. He discovered that the defendant, unbeknownst to the plaintiff, had blocked at least one (1) of his daughters from contacting him on his phones or electronic devices».
It is unclear which of Billy Ray’s daughters Fairrouz allegedly blocked on his phone.
Additionally, in his lawsuit, the singer of «She's Not Crying Anymore» claimed that Fairrouz asserted that her maiden name was Hodges, but in reality, it was her ex-husband's surname. In May, according to Fairrouz, her doctor allegedly «had difficulty understanding» what her legal name was, and she was allegedly heard on the phone with the IRS identifying herself by «a name he did not know».
«When [Billy Ray] asked why the doctor and IRS were confused about what her name was, [Fairrouz] became angry and stated that it was personal and did not concern [Billy Ray]», - the court documents state, according to the publication. Additionally, Billy Ray claimed that Fairrouz «constantly asserted» that he «was her soulmate and that [she] wanted [him] to be her only husband».
The court documents also state that Billy Ray «knows that the defendant has been attempting to obtain her U.S. citizenship for several years, and the plaintiff was concerned about how this would affect her citizenship application, as she may have provided false information to the Immigration and Naturalization Service».
Billy Ray accused Fairrouz of «intentional» fraud «solely to induce the plaintiff to marry her in order to obtain the 'Cyrus' name in the belief that it would help her budding music career».
For her part, Fairrouz responded in her own lawsuit, obtained by PEOPLE. According to the publication, the Australian revealed that she visited a doctor to schedule a double mastectomy due to a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, which increases the risk of breast cancer. Her operation was scheduled for May 24. She claimed that her ex-husband had put her in an «emotional and psychological prison» in the days leading up to their split and «often called her a 'selfish bitch' and constantly claimed that she was using him».
«As the date of the major operation approached, the wife reasonably feared leaving or seeking any help because she was afraid that the husband might interfere with her operation or her extended recovery at home», - Fairrouz’s lawsuit stated, according to the publication. The documents also noted that Billy Ray allegedly agreed to pay for her medical insurance and any potential surgeries after they got married in October 2023.
Neither Billy Ray nor Fairrouz have publicly discussed their ongoing divorce. The duo first became romantically involved in mid-2022 and announced their engagement later that same year
