Bindi Irwin is convinced that her daughter Grace knows everything about the legendary Steve Irwin. In a new interview, the zoologist revealed that she often shows her child footage from the popular documentary series «The Crocodile Hunter» featuring Steve.

«He was the same in real life as he was on screen, so I feel that Grace will be able to grow up knowing him», - said Bindi, 25, in an interview with Us Weekly published on Wednesday, May 29. «As soon as we turn on dad, she starts imitating him, shouting 'Crikey!' through the living room».

Until his death in 2006 at the age of 44, Steve, along with his wife Terri Irwin, owned and operated a zoo in Australia. While Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed Grace in March 2021, the couple still helps manage the 700-acre property with Terri, 59, and Robert Irwin.

When she’s not caring for animals, Bindi does everything she can to talk about her late father when her daughter is nearby.

«I've always said that I want Grace to know her dad», - she explained. «We have a big picture of him, and every evening we have our calming ritual. Chandler, Grace, and I sit under the stars and talk about what we’re grateful for. Then we read stories and say goodnight to Grandpa Crocodile, as she calls him. She started this one evening; she says, 'Goodnight, Grandpa Crocodile,' because he’s feeding a crocodile in the photo».

Although Grace is only three years old, Bindi said her daughter is «the most beautiful, funny, and wonderful soul». She is curious about everything and fascinated by the world, just like her favorite grandfather, who was killed by a stingray while filming on the Great Barrier Reef.

«I wish adults were more like her!» Bindi explained. «I don’t know where people lose that sense of magic, but watching her and how she enjoys the flowers, sights, and sounds is a wonderful reminder».

As mother and daughter continue to create new memories, Bindi can’t help but think of her father, who remains in her thoughts and in her heart.

«If I had the chance, the only thing I would say to my father is 'I love you and miss you. Every day without you is hard. But we hope we’re making you proud,'» reflected Bindi. «I think when there is such great love, it never truly goes away. He’s always with us»
