Blair Underwood talks about unexpected transformation in «Doc»

Blair Underwood has returned to the series «Doc», - but his character will undergo unexpected changes. In the premiere of the third season, which aired on September 22, Ben (Underwood) appeared at West Hospital with a new look, having decided to shave off his beard. However, as Underwood stated in an interview with Us, this change is not related to the storyline.
«I didn’t want to show another side [of the character] through his appearance», - Underwood clarified. He added that he needed to be clean-shaven for another project he cannot discuss. The actor thanked the producers for supporting his decision to change Ben’s appearance, noting that the show’s team was open to it.
Ben was first introduced at the end of the second season as someone from Amy’s (Molly Parker) past. Although Amy does not remember their time together very well, viewers saw a moment confirming the romantic relationship between Ben and Amy. Underwood described their relationship as «very hot and spicy», - adding that it occurred after Amy’s divorce and before her connection with Jake.
The actor also noted that Ben was «the first» to come into Amy’s life before her new love. Underwood shared that he learned he would be part of a new love triangle. He mentioned that he trusts the writers and producers and is simply fulfilling his role.
Currently, Underwood has not yet filmed half of the episodes of the third season, but he is eagerly looking forward to further developments. «I have most of the secrets.
