The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) gathered once again at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles for their fourth annual awards ceremony, celebrating stars and uplifting the black community, honoring its most supportive figures. The evening was hosted by entrepreneur and media personality Kenny Burns, and began with DJ Mars spinning tracks in memory of three black artists who recently passed away: Fatman Scoop, Tito Jackson, and Rich Homie Quan.

Here’s everything you need to know about the event.

Every year, BMAC brings together outstanding figures in the music industry to honor artists and professionals who use their platforms for positive change. Founded in 2020, BMAC aims to create a united force for racial equality and justice in the music industry. Using collective voices, BMAC strives to improve communities and achieve systemic change, according to their website.

Under the patronage of Live Nation, the BMAC Gala evening highlighted mentoring programs and organization revenues, continuing its mission of implementing meaningful changes both within and beyond the industry.

Usher was present to receive the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the end of the evening, presented by Bobby Brown. «When I was asked to present Usher with this incredible award, I didn’t hesitate», - Brown noted. «He has influenced both the stage and the lives of many people around the world. I have known Usher for a long time, and he definitely deserves this award».

During his Past Future Present tour, Usher expressed gratitude to those who have supported his career and emphasized the importance of using his platform for positive change. «No matter what opportunity I have to shed light, to represent growth that can help others — what is a dream without action? What is knowledge without action? The word of God says in James 2:17, faith without works is dead».

Attorney Benjamin Crump presented the Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award to LL Cool J, who recently released his album The Force. LL Cool J shared his motivation for creating new music, saying, «I wanted to show future generations that our culture is not disposable. I just wanted to support young kids and show them that it’s possible».

Other awardees included:

Ganna received a commemoration for the BMAC 30349 guaranteed income program, providing $ 1000 scholarships to 30 families in South Fulton, GA.

«I'm from South Fulton, the blackest city in America», - said the Atlanta rapper. «With Ganna’s Great Giveaway in 2018, I wanted to give back to my community. We continue to move forward, and I will continue to uplift my community»
