Bobby Bones explained why he won «Dancing with the Stars»

Bobby Bones shared his thoughts on why he won the 27th season of «Dancing with the Stars». In an episode of the podcast «He Said G Said», - which aired on October 1, he noted that his victory was largely due to the active use of social media.

According to Bones, his season was the first in the era of social media, which he believes played a significant role in his success. He also emphasized that, although he had limited dance training, he quickly realized that viewer voting mattered much more than the judges' scores. Bones explained that unlike scores, which are capped at ten points from each judge, the number of viewer votes is unlimited, allowing for a significant gap between contestants.

To attract more votes, Bones made an effort to be as open and vulnerable as possible in his performances, showing viewers his progress. He added that the show is actually a popularity contest, not just a dance competition.

Bones' victory sparked controversy, and nearly seven years after his triumph, former show host Tom Bergeron admitted he was shocked that Bones won. This statement upset Bones, and he sent his trophy back to the show. Later, Bergeron apologized, and the show returned the prize to Bones.
