Bryan Cranston mourns the death of RJ Mitte, his son in «Breaking Bad
Bryan Cranston is mourning the death of R.J. Mitte, who played his son in the series «Breaking Bad». Mitte’s representative confirmed to People that the 34-year-old actor died by suicide on Monday.

Cranston, who portrayed Walter White, shared a photo with R.J. on Instagram and wrote, «I am in deep despair as I write this tonight. R.J. Mitte, my dear son in 'Breaking Bad,' has passed away». He recalled meeting Mitte when he was just 14 years old and noted that he enthusiastically and joyfully played the role of Walter White Jr.

Cranston emphasized that despite the diagnosis of «cerebral palsy», - Mitte never allowed it to be an excuse. He handled the demanding shooting schedule with determination. The actor added that R.J. was «pretty raw» during the pilot shoot in 2007 but gradually became «a really good actor».

Cranston also noted that Mitte used his experience on the show to become an advocate for actors with disabilities and led a charity organization helping people with disabilities. He expressed sorrow that all of Mitte’s promises and potential are now lost, adding, «It's especially horrible to hear that he took his own life. Why?»

Bryan shared that they had just been planning to meet for lunch in the weeks leading up to R.J.'s death. «We were texting just a few weeks ago, figuring out when we could meet», - Cranston wrote. He expressed love for Mitte and noted that he would miss him.

Cranston also urged anyone contemplating suicide to seek support by calling 988 at the Suicide and Crisis Prevention Center, adding that there is hope.

Aaron Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman in «Breaking Bad», - also spoke out about this. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, «I am in shock. I am heartbroken by this news. R.J., I love you, my friend. You will be missed». Dean Norris, who played Walter White’s brother-in-law, Hank Schrader, also expressed his condolences, noting that R.J. was «a sweet young man» and will be greatly missed.
