Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox have realized what the main rule is for them as co-parents. The 50-year-old actor talked about how he and the star of «Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen» are raising their sons — Noah, Bodhi, and Journey — as divorced parents.

«The main rule is always making sure that everything is focused on the children’s experience», - Brian said in an interview with E! News on Monday, April 15. «People make the mistake of thinking they will do everything in a way that won’t affect the children, and of course it will affect the children. The only choice you have is how it will affect the children».

When it comes to what is best for their children, Brian noted that sometimes he and Megan have to «pick their battles» and explained how their relationship as co-parents differs from when they were together.

«The person you were with and have now separated from, you separated from them for a reason», - said the alum of Beverly Hills 90210. «Because you didn’t get along. So you can’t expect that after the breakup you will get along again in raising your children. So you need to decide: 'Okay, now it’s not about how we get along. Now it’s about co-parenting, which is a completely different situation.'»

Megan and Brian were married from 2010 until their divorce in 2020. The former couple had a complicated relationship, as the «Transformers» actress filed for divorce in 2015 but then withdrew the petition. Despite the final separation, the ex-spouses remained friendly for the sake of their children and openly discussed their work as co-parents.

Last month, Megan appeared on the «Call Her Daddy» podcast and admitted to some of her mistakes when she was with Brian.

«I was young and really shouldn’t have been in a relationship of that level of commitment and scale», - she told podcast host Alex Cooper. «For me, it would have been easy to complain or seem like the relationships were one-sided».

Additionally, the «Transformers» star confessed that she would «fall in love» with her co-stars while she was with Brian.

«I would go to work and fall in love, because I was a child, and I never had the freedom to be alone and experience that life», - Megan noted, adding that she «wasn't a great partner to Brian»
