Brian’s late wife was Melinda Ledbetter. The couple dated from 1986 to around 1989, then separated for two years before rekindling their love in 1991. Melinda also served as Brian’s manager. They were married until her tragic death in January 2024, which the artist of «Wouldn't It Be Nice» was devastated by, as he wrote in a statement on Instagram at the time.
«My heart is broken. Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning», - Brian’s statement read. «Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost».
Brian explained that Melinda was more than just a wife to him. «She was my savior», - he added. «She gave me the emotional security I needed for my career. She inspired me to make music that was close to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything to us».
