Brad Pitt is aware of his daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt's request to change her surname, and, as a new report claims, the 60-year-old actor is «upset» about it.
«He knows and is upset that Shiloh has rejected his surname», - PEOPLE reported on Monday, June 3. «He never felt greater happiness than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter».
The source also added that Brad «loves his children and misses them», - referring to Shiloh, 18, and five other children he raises with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Vivienne, and Knox. Brad and Angelina, 49, were married from 2014 to 2019, when they were officially declared divorced.
«Reminders that he lost his children are certainly not easy for Brad», - the source said. «It's very sad».
Last week, TMZ reported that Shiloh filed documents to change her father’s surname, Pitt, on her 18th birthday. In addition to her, Zahara, 19, also dropped Brad’s surname from hers — notably during her presentation at the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College last year, when she reportedly introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie. Even Vivienne, 15, used only the Jolie surname in the program for the play «Outcast», - which she worked on with her mother.
However, Shiloh is the only one of the Jolie-Pitt children who has officially changed her surname.
Surname changes come against the backdrop of Brad and Angelina’s long-standing legal battle. They separated in 2016, but have been fighting over finances since the actress from the movie «Salt» filed for divorce in the same year.
In October 2022, it was revealed that Angelina accused Brad of physically assaulting her and their children on a plane in 2016, according to court documents obtained by Hollywood Life. Brad denied these allegations.
However, earlier this year, Angelina claimed that Brad had been aggressive even before the alleged incident on the plane in 2016. Brad, for his part, has not publicly responded to his ex-wife's accusations.
