According to a public statement from Brett and his wife Jessica, Miller passed away while on vacation with their family.
«With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the death of our youngest son, Miller», - the statement read. «He was 14 years old, and he left us too soon after falling ill along with several other family members while on vacation».
Brett and Jessica also noted that they «have so many questions and so few answers at this time», - adding that Miller «passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21».
Like his father, Miller was a dedicated athlete and loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, and fishing, according to his parents' statement.
«Miller was a beloved son and brother, and we cannot yet imagine our lives without his infectious smile. … He lived life to the fullest every day», - the Gardners' statement read. «We are grateful to everyone who has reached out to offer support and inspiration during this difficult time, and we are confident that our faith, family, and friends will help us overcome this unimaginable loss. Our prayers are with Miller’s classmates and friends, as well as all other families who have lost a child too soon, as we share in their grief».
