Britney Spears explained what really happened to her at the Chateau Marmont hotel on Thursday, May 2nd. The 42-year-old music icon took to Instagram to claim that the incident was not serious, and seemed to blame her mother, Lynne Spears, for it. However, Britney did not specify whether she believed that Lynne, 68, was responsible for the incident itself or for the media coverage surrounding it.
«I know my mom was involved!!!» Britney claimed in her caption that day. «I haven’t spoken to her in 6 months, and she called right after the incident, before the news became known. I was set up, as she has done before!!! I wish I had grandmothers!!! I can’t stand her!!! Honestly, I don’t care, I’ll say it».
In accompanying clips she shared in the post, the performer of the hit «Toxic» pointed out how swollen her ankle was from the injury she sustained at the hotel.
«I really sprained my ankle yesterday, like an idiot — just to prove it», - Britney noted. «It's so bad. Stupid idiot tried to jump in the Chateau living room, and I fell — embarrassed myself — and that’s it».
The «Circus» artist admitted that medics came to her, but blamed them for staging «a great show that was so unnecessary, and all I needed was ice».
«It's really pretty bad, but that’s life», - she concluded.
Earlier that day, several publications published photos of Britney leaving the Chateau Marmont hotel with a pillow. Her new boyfriend, Sam Asghari, was also with her.
Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the situation in a statement obtained by Daily Mail.
«Emergency services received a call at 12:42 a.m. reporting an injured adult woman», - the statement read. «An ambulance arrived at 1:00 a.m. I can confirm that no one was taken. Services left the scene at 1:17 a.m. Police were not called».
The publication also reported that a woman matching Britney’s description was seen «disturbing and threatening hotel staff and guests». However, it is still unclear whether this was the singer.
Later, when rumors about Britney spread online, she called the news «fake» in a note on Instagram.
«I wish people understood that I’m getting stronger every day!!!» she wrote. «The truth is disgusting, so can someone teach me to lie??? Goddesses out there, I’m calling on a higher power, and also, I hope you are too!!! … Not sure why I feel the need to share this … Maybe I’m just a girl, and I have my period, so I’m angry. Crap. I also sprained my ankle yesterday, and medics showed up at my door illegally. They never entered my room, but I felt completely violated. I’m moving to Boston!!! Peace»
