Bubba Wallace left the track in an ambulance after a race crash
Bubba Wallace is recovering after a crash that occurred during the Bank of America 400 race in Charlotte, North Carolina. On the 77th lap, his car collided with Alex Bowman’s vehicle, after which Wallace hit the wall and returned to the track.

According to Wallace, he did not have time to react to the collision. «I saw it at the last second. The 48 [Bowman] came up and hit us. No hard feelings, it’s just racing», - he noted after the race on October 11. Wallace added that the first impact damaged the brakes, and the second impact was more serious. Nevertheless, he stated that he was fine: «We still have nine fingers and nine toes».

After the collision, Wallace remained in the car for a while before being assisted by emergency personnel. He was able to walk to the waiting ambulance, refusing a stretcher. He was later taken to a local medical center for evaluation, and the 23XI Racing team confirmed that he was «released» the same day.

Bowman, who also did not finish the race, was uninjured in the crash. He took responsibility for the incident, stating, «Yeah, it just got slick. I don’t know how it happened, but unfortunately, I turned too hard and lost control of the car».

The Bank of America 400 marked Wallace’s first race in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase where he was unable to finish. The race was won by Chase Briscoe, who edged out his teammate Joe Gibbs' Christopher Bell by 0.029 seconds.
