Former Trump supporter Cassidy Hutchinson became the center of attention after testifying before the House committee on January 6, expressing concern about the attack on the Capitol and President Donald Trump’s role in it. She discussed Trump’s actions before the riot and revealed that he wanted to join his supporters as the violence unfolded.

As part of the investigation into the Capitol uprising, Hutchinson may be subpoenaed, although the action, according to reports, was rejected. According to the Washington Post, House Speaker Mike Johnson’s aide insisted that Republicans not call her, warning that it could reveal «sexually explicit» texts that Republican lawmakers sent to Hutchinson.

Learn more about her, her testimony, and personal life below.

Hutchinson was a former aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. She testified at a public hearing before the committee on January 6, 2022.

Hutchinson stated that Trump was aware of the potential violence and did not take measures to prevent it. She described how on the day of the uprising on January 6, Trump allegedly expressed a desire to go to the Capitol with his supporters, despite the safety risks.

She also recalled instances when Trump appeared indifferent to the dangers expressed by his staff and law enforcement agencies. Hutchinson described how Trump downplayed or ignored the threat posed by the crowd of his supporters.

Additionally, Hutchinson testified about attempts by Trump and his allies to pressure state officials and others to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

It is unclear whether Hutchinson is married or currently in a relationship. However, she briefly discussed her past personal life in an interview with Rachel Maddow in 2023. During the interview, Hutchinson took the opportunity to refute Matt Gaetz’s claim that they had briefly dated.

In her memoir «Enough», - Hutchinson previously mentioned that Gaetz flirted with her on several occasions during her time in the Trump administration. However, Gaetz denied her version, stating that he does not remember the details from her book but insisted that they had a brief romantic encounter.

Refuting the claim, Hutchinson told Maddow: «I have much higher standards in choosing men… Matt, frankly, is a very inconsistent politician».

She continued: «And I don’t have much to say to someone who cares more about the sound of their own voice than actually legislating. Matt Gaetz, in my opinion, is not someone I personally trust in terms of integrity, and I don’t think Matt Gaetz has the best reputation in relationships»
