Former congresswoman Liz Cheney (Republican, Wyoming) is actively working alongside Vice President Kamala Harris as the November 5 election day approaches, which has sparked extreme comments from former President Donald Trump.

On Thursday, Trump called Cheney a «radical military hawk» and suggested, «Let's put her with a gun, standing there with nine barrels, shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels. You know, when the guns are pointed at her face».

In response to this, Cheney, like many others, condemned Trump’s remarks, stating that they resemble those of a dictator. «This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak out against them with death».

Cheney, who has been warning people about Trump for many years, held the third most important position for Republicans in the House of Representatives since 2019. However, her «competence» came into question when she openly criticized former President Donald Trump for his repeated «Big Lie» about election fraud and his role in the Capitol riot. After she voted with Democrats to impeach Trump in January, the pro-Trump faction in the House, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Republican, California), called for her removal from leadership. The House committee voted to remove Cheney behind closed doors on May 12.

During the closed-door meeting to remove Cheney from House leadership, a source told ABC News that Cheney urged her colleagues not to allow Trump to make the GOP «complicit in his efforts to destroy our democracy». Cheney said:

«Our country needs this Republican Party as a strong party, based on truth, so that we can shape the future. For this, we must be true to our principles and Constitution. We cannot allow the former president to drag us back and make us complicit in his efforts to destroy our democracy. That path leads to our destruction, and possibly the destruction of our country. If you need leaders who will support and spread his destructive lies, I am not your person, you have many others to choose from. That will be their legacy».

In September, Cheney endorsed Harris, becoming one of the most prominent Republicans supporting a Democrat.

«Because of the danger posed by Donald Trump, I will not only not vote for Donald Trump, but I will vote for Kamala Harris», - Cheney said in a video posted on X.

Following this, Harris' campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, said, «The Vice President is proud to have earned the support of Congressman Cheney. She is a patriot who loves this country and puts our democracy and our Constitution first».

Cheney is the eldest daughter of Dick Cheney, who served as vice president under former President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. In the House of Representatives, she held the same seat her father held as a congressman from Wyoming from 1979 to 1989.

As one of the most vocal critics of Trump in an increasingly divided GOP with a growing hardcore fan base, some political analysts saw the former lawyer as a potential leader. In her final speech before her removal on May 12, she said, «I promise you that after today, I will lead the fight to restore our party and our nation on conservative principles, to defeat socialism, to protect our republic, to make the GOP worthy of being Lincoln’s party again».

However, by the end of 2023, Cheney clarified that her priority is to ensure that Trump does not return to the White House. «I will not do anything that helps him», - she said when asked about the possibility of running as a third-party candidate on the CBS Mornings program. She emphasized the need for
