Carrie Underwood is in talks to replace Katy Perry on American Idol

Carrie Underwood, apparently, was discussing the possibility of replacing Katy Perry on American Idol. According to show producer Megan Wolflick, the series is in a «new era» as the artist of «Somethin' Bad» returns 20 years after winning the fourth season of the competition.
«We have been looking for and, of course, discussing with Carrie for some time now», - Megan told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, August 1. «It's been a little over two months since the finale [of season 22], but these conversations have been going on for a long time, and we were really happy that it all happened».
Why did they decide to choose Carrie? Megan added: «Well, it’s been 20 years since she auditioned in St. Louis for American Idol, and having the first Idol graduate on the jury has always been interesting to me».
In 2005, Carrie became the champion of the fourth season. In the same year, the country star released her debut album «Some Hearts», - which included her hit «Before He Cheats». In the following years, the Oklahoma native sold over 85 million records worldwide. Seven of her albums have also been certified multi-platinum.
