Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, has been discharged from a hospital in Las Vegas following an alleged suicide attempt. His representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed to USA TODAY that Carrot Top is now «home with family and feeling well» after more than a week in the hospital.
According to Schlicher, the comedian was hospitalized on September 18, which led to the cancellation of his upcoming performances. Carrot Top has been performing in Las Vegas since 2005. In a statement made while the comedian was in the hospital, Schlicher said that he is «recovering and receiving the necessary help and support». Carrot Top’s family and close friends expressed gratitude for the care and requested privacy.
According to a report from the Las Vegas police, a call was received on September 18 at 4:21 PM regarding a man with suicidal thoughts at the comedian’s address. Carrot Top’s manager, Daniel O’Leary, informed the police that the comedian was upset about an article regarding a lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment. O’Leary stated that Carrot Top expressed concern about the potential cancellation of his shows due to these allegations.
After this, Carrot Top allegedly sent a message to O’Leary saying «done», - after which he could not be reached. O’Leary called a woman mentioned in the conversation with the comedian and asked her to check on him. She found Carrot Top unconscious in the backyard near the pool and immediately called for help.
