Celine Dion experienced a severe episode that was captured during the filming of her new documentary «I'm Celine Dion», all of this happened while she was battling stiff person syndrome.
The 56-year-old singer was recorded during a doctor’s appointment when she began experiencing symptoms resembling an episode, while lying on the examination table. The singer of «My Heart Will Go On» was seen in a stiff posture and in discomfort, groaning in pain.
«Part of the disease is that once you go into contraction, sometimes… the signal for it to relax doesn’t understand, so it stays in a contracted position», - shared Terri Lobo, a sports therapist. While he helps Celine, she is later shown crying and embarrassed by the whole situation.
«I don’t know how to express it, like… you know, not having control over yourself?» remembered the singer of «It's All Coming Back to Me Now» the horrifying moment.
She continued: «Well, what am I supposed to do… If I can’t be stimulated by what I love, and then I go on stage and, like, you put a pulse oximeter on me and lay me on my back?» Terri replied: «It's scary, I know. It’s hard. It’s not the end of your journey — we all know that. But it’s always this step on this path».
This health update came after she announced her diagnosis in December 2022. «I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder, and I wasn’t ready to say anything earlier, but now I am ready». Since then, she has always been very open about her illness and has tried to use her platform for education, so she gave us an insight into her world in the new documentary.
«It's not hard to give a concert, you know? It’s hard to cancel a concert… I work hard every day, but I have to admit, it was a struggle. I miss people so much. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. But I won’t stop», - confessed the hitmaker of «It's All Coming Back to Me Now» in the documentary film
