Celine Dion opened up about her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome in an interview with Hoda Kotb, set to air on Tuesday, June 11. «It's like someone is strangling you. It’s like someone is pushing your throat in that direction», - shared the 56-year-old singer.

The singer of «My Heart Will Go On» added: «It can be in the stomach. It can be in the spine, in the ribs. But it feels like if I move my legs, it will stay in this… Or if I’m cooking, my fingers or hands will take a position. It’s spasms, but it’s like you’re in a position you can’t get out of».

An update on her health came after she revealed her diagnosis in December 2022. «I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder, and I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but now I am», - said Celine in the trailer for her new documentary film «Celine Dion: Through the Eyes of the World», - set to premiere on Prime Video on June 25.

Stiff Person Syndrome is an autoimmune disease characterized by «involuntary stiffness of axial muscles and intrusive painful spasms, often triggered by fear or emotional stimuli», - according to the Mayo Clinic.

In January, announcing her documentary film through an Instagram post, she noted: «These past couple of years have been such a trial for me, from discovering my condition to learning how to live with it and manage it, but not let it define me».

As a result of her struggle with SPS, Celine had to cancel her Courage world tour. «It's not hard to perform, you know? It’s hard to cancel a show… I work hard every day, but I have to admit, it was a struggle. I miss it so much, the people, I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. But I won’t stop», - confessed the singer of the hit «It's All Coming Back to Me Now».

«Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the toughest challenges in my life, but I remain determined to return to the stage and live as normal a life as possible», - she captioned a post on Instagram made on International Stiff Person Syndrome Awareness Day on March 15
