Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory has passed away at the age of 45
Chad Gilbert, guitarist of the band New Found Glory, passed away on September 20 at the age of 45 after battling cancer. His death was confirmed by his wife and band members in an official statement.

The statement reads: «On the morning of September 20, Chad Everett Gilbert peacefully left this world in his sleep. He departed surrounded by friends and family, just as he wanted». They also expressed shock and devastation at his sudden loss, noting that the number of visitors in the hospital reflected how much Chad was loved and valued. «He was a legendary musician, but his favorite achievement was being a husband and father», - they added.

New Found Glory released 14 studio albums, including the platinum «Sticks and Stones» from 2002. Band members Jordan Pundik, Ian Grushka, and Cyrus Bolooki noted that «Chad's guitar playing, songwriting, humor, and tireless energy helped shape New Found Glory for nearly three decades».

Gilbert was diagnosed with adrenocortical cancer in 2021 and documented his battle with the disease on social media. In February, he underwent emergency brain surgery after falling at home. At that time, he received a more serious diagnosis. Nevertheless, on June 8, he returned to the stage in Nashville, playing guitar with the help of a mobility scooter. On Instagram, he wrote: «I was able to play a show in front of my daughter, something I truly never thought I would be able to do again».

Chad Gilbert is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, and brother.
