Chappelle Roan announced that she left her talent agency, Wasserman Group, in February 2026 after its founder, Casey Wasserman, was found in Jeffrey Epstein’s files. Wasserman had exchanged emails with Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell many years ago. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and other related crimes.
In an announcement posted on her Instagram Stories, the artist behind the hit «Pink Pony Club» wrote that she had left the agency.
«As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman», - Chappelle wrote. «I hold my teams to the highest standards and am obligated to protect them. No artist, agent, or employee should be forced to defend or ignore actions that are so deeply contrary to our moral values. I have deep respect and gratitude for the agents and staff who tirelessly work for their artists, and I refuse to stand by».
In response to criticism over his past communication with Maxwell, Wasserman made a statement to The New York Times on January 31, 2026. He insisted that he «never had a personal or business relationship» with Epstein but expressed regret over his conversations with Maxwell.
«I deeply regret my communication with Ghislaine Maxwell, which occurred more than two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes became known», - Wasserman told the publication. «I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I took a humanitarian trip as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation in 2002 on Epstein’s plane. I am very sorry that I had any association with them».
Wasserman Group is a sports marketing and talent agency representing athletes and artists.
In addition to managing his agency, Wasserman is also the chairman of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, known as LA28. When his name was found in Epstein’s files, some called for Wasserman to resign from his position on the Olympic Committee.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn told Rolling Stone that Wasserman «should resign».
«His representation on the world stage distracts from our athletes and the tremendous efforts needed to prepare for 2028», - Hahn added.
Documents from Epstein’s files, which were released by the Department of Justice under the Epstein Transparency Act, showed that Wasserman and Maxwell exchanged flirtatious letters more than 20 years ago. In one letter from April 2003, Wasserman wrote, «I think about you all the time. So what do I need to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?» According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maxwell responded by offering Wasserman a massage that could «drive a man crazy».
