Josh Hartnett, Mackenzie Davis, and Charlie Heaton spoke to Extra about their new thriller Below, which was released on Netflix on October 8. Josh plays a fisherman who fights to protect his family and community from a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote town.
Charlie Heaton noted that his work on Stranger Things has been a real learning experience on set. He emphasized that each project requires different approaches and interactions with new people. He also mentioned that having such a talented partner as Josh played an important role in the work on Below.
Josh shared that he was drawn to the uniqueness of the project and would have been very envious if someone else had taken on the role. Filming took place in Newfoundland, where Josh noted he was struck by the beauty of nature and the kindness of the locals. Charlie added that it is one of the most magical places he has ever visited.
Mackenzie Davis, who plays a marine biologist, shared that it was important for her to understand her character’s emotions, not just their scientific aspects, in preparation for the role.
