Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, publicly commented on King Charles III’s rare response to the allegations in his book. In an interview with ABC News, he stated that there was «gaslighting» from the king and expressed dissatisfaction that the response was not only arrogant but also insincere.
In a recent excerpt from his upcoming memoir «Swan Song: Diana, My Sister», - Spencer claims that Charles, who is now 77, was allegedly in good spirits after Diana’s death in 1997. According to Spencer, the king supposedly said, «We will soon forget [Diana]». This was said to have occurred after the tragic passing of the princess, who left two sons—Prince William and Prince Harry—without their mother.
William and Harry were 15 and 12 years old, respectively, at the time of their mother’s death and participated in the funeral procession alongside their father and uncle. Spencer also noted that the statement from Buckingham Palace made on behalf of the king did not refute his words. «It was interesting because it didn’t say he didn’t say that», - he added.
Spencer also mentioned that he does not maintain relationships with members of the British monarchy and is not interested in developing them. «I absolutely bear no grudge», - he emphasized. At the same time, he noted that he respects the crown and holds no ill feelings toward Charles, who was his brother-in-law. The memoir «Swan Song: Diana, My Sister» will be released on September 22.
