Four actors will come together to play each member of the most influential group in Western pop culture: The Beatles. Long-awaited fans of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr — also known as the Fab Four — will finally have the opportunity to see the journey of their favorite Beatle on the big screen. Instead of one biographical film, four will be released in theaters over the course of three years.
Fans of the Liverpool rock 'n' roll group learned who will play each of the Beatles when CinemaCon presented the cast on March 31, 2025 in Las Vegas. Below, Hollywood Life has gathered everything we already know about the biographical films about The Beatles.
Sony Pictures announced that The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be released in theaters in April 2028. Each film will be available for viewing on the big screen that month, according to director Sam Mendes.
«We are not just making one film about The Beatles — we are making four», - Mendes said at CinemaCon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. «Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little deeper».
According to Variety, the official logline for the biographies reads: «Each has their own story, but together they are legendary». The publication added that this will be the «first series-like film project».
Paul Meskal will play McCartney. Meskal has appeared in various recent productions, most notably Gladiator II, The Lost Daughter, God’s Creatures, and All of Us Strangers. Originally from Ireland, he has also been nominated for several awards and won a BAFTA TV award.
Harris Dickinson will play Lennon. Dickinson is a BAFTA-nominated actor who has appeared in films such as Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Where the Crawdads Sing, The Iron Claw, and recently, Babygirl.
Joseph Quinn will play Harrison, the author of the song «Here Comes the Sun». While most fans know Quinn from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, he has also been seen in series like Les Misérables, Catherine the Great, and the horror film A Quiet Place: Day One. Quinn is a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Barry Keoghan will play Starr. Keoghan has appeared in various films and has been nominated for a BAFTA and a Golden Globe. His most notable works include The Banshees of Inisherin, Eternals, and Saltburn. He also appeared in the Apple TV+ mini-series Masters of the Air
