Sierra Ortega became the second participant of the seventh season of Love Island USA to be suddenly removed from the villa. The reality show star and social media influencer disappeared from the show when announcer Ian Sterling made an announcement a few minutes into episode 30.
«Welcome back to Love Island USA. Sierra has left the villa due to a personal situation, leaving Nick [Vanstenberg] officially single», - Ian said in the seventh season, episode 30. So, what happened to Sierra?
Below, Hollywood Life presents a review of Sierra’s departure, what awaits Nick, and updates on Sierra’s future after the Villa.
Sierra is a 25-year-old social media content creator from Los Angeles.
It seems that Sierra did not leave the show of her own accord. Fans demanded Sierra’s removal from the show because she was seen using an anti-Asian racist expression in a past social media post.
It is unlikely that Sierra will return to the show, as she was apparently removed by the show itself.
It is unclear how Sierra will deal with the consequences of her departure. At the time of publication, she had not addressed her departure from Love Island USA.
Since Sierra was Nick’s first choice in the Villa, he had a choice — either to couple up with another woman or remain single. During his confession, Nick was asked if he would try to find another connection.
«I don’t know», - he said. «Right before Sierra left, my mind was clear», - Nick said. «I knew what the future would be like, and now I’m lost. I think now that my strongest connection is gone, I just need to figure things out from here».
Nevertheless, Nick chose to couple up with Alandria Carten. So he is still in the Villa.
Sierra was not the first Love Island USA participant to be kicked out of the Villa. Earlier in the seventh season, Ulissa Escobar was suddenly removed from the show after videos surfaced of her using a racist expression. In the days following her departure, Ulissa wrote a public apology on Instagram.
«First, I want to apologize for using a word that does not belong to me», - Ulissa wrote in her post. «Audio recordings from podcasts made a few years ago recently resurfaced, and I want to address this directly. In these recordings, I used a word that I should never have used, a racist expression. I used it in ignorance, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it. I was not trying to be offensive or harmful, but now I understand that intention does not justify consequences. And the consequences of the word are real. They are tied to generations of trauma and are not mine to use».
Additionally, Austin Shepard was removed from Love Island during the seventh season for a similar reason: previously using a racist word on social media
