Cynthia Correll arrested for threatening husband with a knife

A 74-year-old woman from Florida, Cynthia Correll, was arrested after reportedly threatening to kill her husband with a knife during an argument related to a broken water hose in their shed. The incident occurred on the evening of September 26, when police received a report of a domestic dispute.
A witness called the police after hearing Correll and her husband arguing. According to the witness, the couple went into the shed, and Correll repeatedly stated that she would «kill him». When police arrived at the scene, Correll’s husband provided his account of events. He reported that they were arguing over the malfunctioning hose, and when he lay down on a bed in the shed, Correll approached him with a knife, pressed it against his shoulder, and threatened to kill him if he did not leave.
When the husband attempted to leave the shed, Correll allegedly struck him in the chest several times. He then entered the house and informed the witness about what had happened. According to police, Correll staged a two-hour standoff, refusing to exit the shed until they began speaking to her through a loudspeaker.
Ultimately, Correll agreed to speak with the police and acknowledged that she had argued with her husband, but claimed that she «did not harm him this time». During the standoff, she used the knife to cut her wrist and was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation after her arrest. She was later placed in jail.
Correll was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and resisting arrest without violence. It is currently unclear whether she has entered a plea or hired an attorney following her arrest. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office did not provide additional comments on the case when contacted about the matter.
