TikTok stars Dakota Harper and Felicity Itmon have been charged with arson after reportedly setting fire to an abandoned house. Harper, 21, and Itmon, 22, were arrested on September 29 and charged with first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson, according to a criminal complaint filed in the Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Charleston police confirmed that the couple was arrested two days after the house in Charleston, West Virginia, caught fire on the night of September 27. The fire was reported around 11:15 PM, and smoke continued to linger in the area until early morning on September 28. Investigators stated that the house was abandoned at the time of the fire and had no active utilities.
During the investigation, authorities obtained surveillance footage that allegedly shows Itmon handing Harper a lit piece of paper, which he then places inside the house. The video shows the couple entering the house and then leaving it. It was also reported that the nearby Canaan Methodist Church sustained damage amounting to $ 10,000.
Following their arrest, Harper and Itmon were arraigned on September 29 and taken into custody at the South Central Regional Jail. Each was given a bond of $ 10,000. It remains unclear whether they have entered a plea or hired an attorney since their arrest. Authorities have also not disclosed whether they believe the couple had a motive for the arson. Charleston police have not provided any further updates on the case.
Harper and Itmon have a large following on TikTok, where they share videos about their life as a couple living in West Virginia. Their joint account had approximately 26,700 followers at the time of publication. After the arrest, many social media users commented on the incident, condemning the couple for the arson. One user wrote, «All this for internet clout. Definitely not worth it. I hope when they’re grilling burgers after getting out, they don’t do anything with fryers». Another added, «Punish them to the fullest extent of the law. Let them know their foolish act has consequences».
