After Leila Taylor fought to get back a pricey Cartier ring she bought for her ex-boyfriend Mason McWhorter, her co-star from the show «Sister Wives», - Dakota Mortensen, now owns the piece of jewelry.
In an Instagram video posted on September 25, Dakota, 33, jokingly remarked, «I shouldn’t have this ring, I have no reason to have it in my life». He mentioned that he doesn’t remember how he got the ring and that he tried to return it to Leila during filming, but that scene was cut from the show.
Leila, 25, revealed in the fifth season of «Sister Wives» that she bought the Cartier ring for Mason when they were in a relationship. After their breakup in February, she asked for the jewelry back. Dakota claims that during filming, Leila told him, «I don’t want the ring», - and suggested he either keep it or sell it.
Dakota, who is not a big fan of rings, decided to keep the jewelry in a drawer at his home. «It sat in my drawer… for months», - he added. Later, when he was cleaning up, he found the ring again, tried it on, and realized he liked it.
Dakota emphasized that he did not steal Leila’s ring and is willing to return it if she wants it back. «I take very good care of the ring», - he stated. «But, Leila, if you ever want it back, just let me know. It’s yours, but for now, I’ll take care of it, you have my word». Leila has not publicly stated whether she wants the ring back. In June, she openly declared her bisexuality and is currently dating a woman.
