Dax Shepard changed his views on marriage after a special evening before Christmas with Kristen Bell. In a new episode of the podcast «Armchair Expert», - released on October 26, Bell reminded Shepard that he had previously said he didn’t believe in marriage and explained why that was important to her.
Shepard noted that his views on marriage were «anarchist» and he didn’t believe that a piece of paper filed with the court defined his relationship with his partner. He emphasized that he would treat Bell as his wife regardless of formalities. However, his opinion changed when Bell flew to Detroit to pick up his parents and then returned to California to celebrate Christmas together.
Shepard recalled how that night, while in bed, he realized he wanted to start a family with Bell. He decided to propose, took a ring out of his jacket pocket, and got down on one knee. Bell, sensing that a proposal was near, began to cry with excitement.
The couple started dating in 2007, and they got engaged in 2010. They have two daughters: Lincoln, born in March 2013, and Delta, who was born in December 2014. Recently, Bell also shared her experiences of being a working mother, noting that it is very challenging and requires a constant balance between openness and protecting her children’s privacy.
