After the shocking news about the dark side of children’s television spread throughout the entertainment industry, Demi Lovato is releasing her upcoming documentary film «Child Star». In the documentary, the singer, who performs the hit «Confident», talks with several celebrities who started their careers as child stars. After the trailer was released, viewers noticed that some of Demi’s former colleagues from Disney Channel appeared on screen.
«Everyone wanted to break into the industry at a young age», - Demi says in the voiceover as the trailer begins. The teaser invites viewers to «join Demi Lovato for an intimate look at child stardom».

«Child Star» explores Demi’s personal past as a young Disney Channel icon. The trailer shows clips of her appearances in Camp Rock and alongside some of the biggest names in the network, including Joe Jonas and Selena Gomez. However, none of them appear in the documentary film.
As Demi sits down with other child stars, they discuss complex topics including mental health, addiction, beauty standards pressure, financial expectations, and more.
According to the official synopsis, the documentary film «explores the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars».
«Child Star» is also Demi’s directorial debut.
As shown in the trailer, some of Hollywood’s biggest names sit down with Demi throughout the documentary film. Talk show host and actress Drew Barrymore, Nickelodeon alum and Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson, and «That's So Raven» and «Raven's Home» alum Raven-Symoné discuss their careers as young actors with Demi. Other celebrities in the documentary film include Demi’s former Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner, Dance Moms alum JoJo Siwa, and Golden Globe winner Christina Ricci.
In the documentary film, Alyson and Demi discuss their days at Camp Rock. At one point in the trailer, Demi apologizes to Alyson after the «Suite Life of Zack and Cody» alum pointed out that it «felt like walking on eggshells».
